BACKGROUND

The “Cultural Awareness Expedition to Malaysia” program was inspired by the Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), DYTM Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail. Then, His Royal Highness assigned it to UniMAP Vice Chancellor, Kol. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Kamarudin Hussin. This program will be fully hosted by UniMAP since 2006 and it involves several states of Malaysia which are Perlis, Pulau Pinang (Penang), Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Malacca.

This program comprises of tour and sight seeing to Malaysia’s most famous major landmarks, historical sites, nature getaways, exciting recreational activities, nightlife, experience the unique blend of rich cultures and traditions, performing arts, exquisite crafts, delectable cuisines and colorful festivals. During their sojourn in Malaysia, the delegation will find pleasure in discovering the dynamic lifestyle of multiracial citizens living harmoniously and the high level of mutual tolerance and goodwill that exists among the local people. In order to fully catch the amazing sights and sounds of Malaysia, Inter Community School Zurich (ICSZ) delegation will have to move around several states around the country as scheduled within 2 weeks.

OBJECTIVES

Through this program, ICSZ Delegation will benefit such as :

  • Experience the Perlis country side features and serene unspoilt beauty, local community lifestyle, exotic multicultural society with cross-cultures evolving from a variety of ethnic groups and traditions, exquisite arts and crafts making, dining of delightful traditional local cuisines, colorful festivals and religious celebrations.


  • Sightseeing to Malaysia’s famous major landmarks, nature sights, historical places and buildings of worship, beautiful stretch of sun-kissed sandy beaches, night scenes and getting insights to Malaysia’s selected schools and Higher Learning Institutions especially UniMAP as a host.


  • Understand the dynamic lifestyles of multiracial citizens with variety of languages living harmoniously and discover the high level of mutual tolerance and goodwill that exists among the Malaysians which comes from different cultures and ethnicity.


  • Contribute efforts and interact more closely into local communities during the foster family mini program, social community services and participate in exciting recreational activities and sports tourism.


  • Discover Kuala Lumpur as the modern, dynamic and cosmopolitan city which is a focal point in the country’s development in politics, information technology, communications, commerce, economic growth, sports, leisure industry and social life all united underneath a rapid developing country.


  • Get fascinated by Putrajaya, Malaysia’s Futuristic City and discover the garden city of intelligent features which is the new administrative capital and a Federal Territory of Malaysia.


  • Develop good relationships; enhance the existing networking and bridging two different countries through more future events in a long run.


  • Share and exchange ideas, experiences, skills, interests, perspectives, knowledge and pertinent information at the end of the program.
 


 

ICSZ BACKGROUND

The ICSZ students will represent Switzerland, England, Scotland, Ireland, USA, Sweden, Germany, Italy and India. Ages of these students are range from 16 to 17 years old who are still studying at 10th Grade in Secondary School Level at Inter Community School (ICS), Zurich, Switzerland.

The Inter-Community School, Zurich (ICSZ) which was founded in 1960 is the oldest international school in Zurich, Switzerland. It is a private, independent, international, co-educational day school.  The school is international in character and welcomes students of all nationalities.
